Custom Paths

Cem,

How can I pass my desired custom path to WexServer to have it display a particular immediately?

For my Intranet I need to create links that auto-logon-and-display-a-specified-custom-path.

Thanks much,
Scott

Scott,
You can use automatic login feature for this purpose.
You can log into WebExplorer Server automatically with a simple URL:

login.asp?auto=username

Of course, you can only use a user who has a password exactly same with the user name with this method. Security is not broken for other users.

So, create a user having password same as the username. Then add your specific custom path in WebExplorer Server and make the user member of the custom path. Finally, create your link. For example if the username is "public1" then you can create the link as "login.asp?auto=public1". When the link is followed, WebExplorer Server will let user "public1" in automatically and user's custom path will be shown.

Cem,
Thanks for the reply, but that doesn't seem to work.

I created a custom path (which I can access just fine logged in as admin).
I created a new user "templates" and made it a member of the custom path.  No home folder.

"login?auto-templates" gives me a *blank* window to the right of the toolbar.

Next, I checked the "Home folder" box for the new user.

"login?auto-templates" now displays the newly created home folder "/users/templates" instead of the custom path.

Help,
Scott

Actually, you should see both home folder and the custom path in the access list for the second case. The error (blank window) only occurs for the first case.

Anyway, I have fixed it. Now, you will not have to check "Home folder" box for the new user and the custom path will be shown after auto login.

I have sent the fix via email.

Fabulous!

Thanks Cem.  I'll try the updates...

And you're correct - the access list did show both for the second case.

I'll post my results after testing...

Thanks again,
Scott

Cem,

Your updates fixed the problem for "login.asp?auto=username".  Excellent!  Thanks!

One more problem:
"list.asp?auto=username" takes me to the login page if I'm in a new browser session.  If I'm already logged in it works, but my users will not be previously logged in.  I'd like to use list.asp for some cases.  Can you fix this too?

Thanks very much!  :)

Scott,
You can't use "list.asp?auto=username" because the automatic login is handled only via login.asp. Why do you want to use especially list.asp?

I see...

There are some cases where I want to display a listing only without the left-hand toolbar.  Is there a way to control the toolbar?  Something like
login.asp?auto=username&toolbar=on/off   ?

Thanks Cem,
Scott

Ok, I have added that feature for you.
You can now hide the left toolbar by calling a URL like:

login.asp?auto=username&toolbar=off

I have sent you the updated files via email.

Hey Cem,

That's great!  I can't wait to try it.

I didn't receive your email...?  Will you please re-send it?

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Cem,

Just a follow-up note...  The toolbar-off feature works great!  Thanks very much for your support!

Cem,

I have recently purchased the WEb Explorer Server source and was wanting to have the Auto login feature for as well.

Any chance on getting the updates?

Many Thanks,

Mark

Cem,

Sorry I already have the updates in my version v3.00.17 as the login.asp?auto=public1 works. After I set up the account first. :)

Thanks,

Mark
