Greetings. I am trying to get all of the permissions worked out on this server. My client did the initial install himself, and everything works when running on LOCALHOST but now I am actually getting it all running over a URL and am having a few permissions issues.
The main one is Uploading. For some reason, even though the service folders seem to have the right permissions enabled, the upload screen does not succeed in putting the file in it's place. This does work however if I am sitting on the server.
So all that said, do you have a 'punch list' of permissions to double check for IIS & Service Folders? I have followed the instructions in the readme, service folders have modify permissions, etc, but I am still stuck.
Here is what my current settings overall are:
- Webroot folder (I_USR: Read & Ex | Read)
- Plugins folder (I_USR: Read & Ex | Read)
- Images folder (I_USR: Read & Ex | Read)
- FileServer folder (I_USR: Modify)
Strange thing here too is that I CAN create folders in the user's directory, just not upload files. I keep getting file time outs on the attempt to upload.
I am sure this is something simple but I could not find anything similar in the forums, so your assistance would be appreci-loved!
Give thanks again.

I forgot to mention that I was having this problem with the FileServer folder was inside the web root, so I went ahead and created 3 new folders on a fresh hard drive, added permissions from scratch. Same problem. Please help!
Thanks

Ok more careful reading I realized that wexserver/www folder needs MODIFY not just read. I did that. I also moved my database to a different drive, and gave that folder MODIFY permissions.
Same error. This is using Wex Upload component. Again this works when I am sitting here on the server, but not when I attempt it from another machine across the internet. I also found that I CAN create new files using WexFms fine. Just not upload.
I am about to install SA Fileup to see if that is the issue, but I suspect the permissions issue will still be there.
Thanks.

Still getting the error using SAFileup.
Success while on the server, no success otherwise. It seems like upload.asp is hanging after I hit UPLOAD.
I have also tried allowing WexFMS to create the Users folder itself. Same error happens.
I am perplexed :{

So I figured this out. Feel free to delete the thread if you want to.
My problem was related to having 2 different firewalls plugged into my DSL router. Server is sitting behind one, other network behind the other. There is also another webserver on the 2nd network. Both networks had the same IP range, as well as both firewalls wound up having old firmware. Somewhere between the 2 changes the Uploading problem was corrected.
Thanks for a great product.

Hi Phil,
I am glad you have solved the problem.
I will not delete the thread indeed as it's a good example of problems that other customers may experience too.
