Folders with many files

First, great product.  It was exactly what I was looking for.

The only issue we have is when opening folders with a lot of file (over 3000 in one instance).  The page takes an extremely long time to load.  It would be nice to have the files load in a background task so users can continue navigating.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your comments, I am glad it's useful to you.

Actually, opening over 3000 files in one folder, is a pretty heavy work. By any chance, is it possible for you to split the files into several subfolders?

How many seconds does it take approximately after you click the folder and the file listing is first displayed?

Unfortunately this is for a client and splitting the files into subfolders is not an option.  It takes about a minute for Firefox to open and much longer for IE.

I have the same problem! any solution?

I purchased the 2.0 version and noticed a similar performance issue with IE when there were 300 plus files in the same directory.   IE was much slower.  I tried Firefox and it was much faster.

I believe the difference lies in how the two browsers are configured for opening http connections.  IE is adhering to RFC recommendations by limiting http 1.0 traffic to 4 connections at a time and limiting http 1.1 traffic to 2 connections at a time.  Firefox is defaulted to 8.

If you want to change IE to 8, then go to this site and it will walk you through it.

Just to let you know, IE 7 seems to perform much better than IE 6 in AJAX based applications like FileVista. You should give it a try.
