Password Expiry

I have a requirement for passwords to expire after a set period of time e.g. 90days for active users to maintain security.
Is it possible that this can be built into the product?

Yes it can be built but how should it work exactly?
If the password of a user expires then what should happen?
Would the user contact the admin and get a new password?
Is it an urgent request?
