When I use roots such as c:\ and d:\ internet explorer errors with access to the path d:\system volume information is denied and the same for c:
What can I do to get around this as it works when pointing roots to directories

The access is denied because of limited NTFS permissions. Folders like "System Volume Information" are special Windows system folders and they have very limited NTFS permissions by default because they are not intended to be accessible by users.
It is not a good idea to use disk root like c:\ as a root folder in FileVista for security reasons anyway. If you really need to do it, then configure the NTFS permissions of the related folders so that you don't get access denied errors.

Ok, I have sent you a fix which will allow you to list subfolders even if there is no permission to browse them.
