Overwrite files on upload

I am evaluating the trial version (2.7) and I want to have user(s) who can upload documents, but not be able to change those uploaded documents afterwards.  This seems like it should be easy to accomplish.  I thought removing the edit permission should do it, but no luck (what is if for then?).  A user can simply upload another document with the same name in the same folder and the original always gets overwritten.  This seems like a big shortfall and makes it not really meet our needs.

The edit permission is actually a reserved permission and it was intended for allowing to edit txt/html files on the fly with an internal editor.

However, I understand your case and you are right that the edit permission should also control the overwriting of files during upload or even when pasting from another folder.

I will let you know when this behaviour is fixed.
