Hello,
I was looking for a web file management system and found this great product that I think solves almost all our customers problems.
But I have some questions.
1. I need to try it and want to know the limitations of the trial version.
2. When you say 5 User License what does it mean? May I create as many users as I want and only 5 concurrent logins? Or may I only create 5 users in the administration panel?
3. One very important feature not found in any of the solutions found so far is e-mail communication. It's important for our costumers to designate a responsible person for a root folder and when someone uploads a file to this folder, the responsible person receives an e-mail telling that there are new/changed/deleted files. Will this be possible? If so, when?
Sorry about the hurry but need an answer until the end of the week.

Hi,
1. The trial version allows creating up to 3 users only (including admin) and the other limitation is that it will keep showing a message box about the trial version.
2. The limit is not concurrent logins, it's the number of users that can be created in the administration panel.
3. Yes, this feature is being considered and should be included in v3.0 which may be released next month in best case.

Thanks !

The upload limit is 2GB, it's not a trial but technical limitation.

Hi Cem,
We are currently evaluating FileVista right now and like it very much. However, I have a question about the notification mentioned above back in October of 2007. Currently we are using Ipswitch's FTP Server and it has notification features. You mentioned back in October 2007 this feature was being considered for version 3.0 however, it appears to never have made it into the product. What is the status of notification and is it possible? It's a crucial feature for us to have.
I found another post where you mentioned the feature was not present in Filevista and for the user to look at the FileVistaControl and make their own notification feature. I'm a bit confused as to the differences between these two products. Also, we have no dev resources at our disposal so adding our own notification setup is far from possible.
Can you explain more and what I might expect from each product?
Sincerely,
Russell

Yes, the feature is still on our to-do list. It seems there had been more important features so this feature was delayed.
However we plan to release a new version which will include this feature within Q1 of 2010.
The difference between the products is FileVistaControl is targeted for developers who want integrate a control into existing systems (which already handles login and administration) and FileVista is targeted for end-users who want to install and use an application with built-in login and administration. Note that FileVista is also built on top of FileVistaControl.
Yes, this can be done with the control because it raises events after some actions occur such as upload. You can plug your custom code into Uploaded event of this control which can send a notification email. However this doesn't seem an option for you as it needs development.
