permission problems after folder ftp upload

i have 1 client with approx 5,000 files in 1800 folders and subfolders. i uploaded the files directly onto the server using FTP and am able to see and download the files using FileVista. However the problem is that it is not then possible to delete files from or upload files to any of those folders. I can get an 'access denied' message.

If I create a new folder on FileVista the upload/delete feature works fine so I am sure the permissions are OK. I suspect  the problem is a result of not creating the folders in FileVista.

Is there a way to fix this and without manually creating 1800 folders via FileVista which would be a horror job.

Thanks in advance for any help on this one.

solved the problem. turns out it was windows permission after all. the folders required 'modify' on the ServerName\Users account.
