Opening Protected documents in FileVista

While evaluating FileVista trial, the following concerns have come up:

1.  Double-click or selecting "OPEN" on documents, opens (HTM) documents in the FileVista window - can this be changed to open the requested document in a new window?

2.  Using right-mouse "OPEN" does send a document to a new window however, the URL is then available for copy/paste and can be subsequently opened without redirecting to the login page.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

1. Actually, FileVista forces the browser to download the file (whether it's HTM file or not) when you double-click it. Which browser and version are you using? Note that, there was a known problem in old versions of IE that it always opened the file instead of downloading it.

2. No, even if you copy/paste the URL, you will not be able to download the file. If you can do this, this is because you chose "Remember me" option while you first logged in and thus FileVista remembers you with the help of a cookie. If you logout or send the URL to some other user, the file will not be accessible.

Thanks for your response, Cem.

We're good to go; these issues don't negatively affect our client's overall satisfaction with FileVista.
