I've downloaded the v4.0 RC2 and it's up and running. I'm trying to configure the email notification, but the program returns "SMTP test failed: Failure sending mail. Unable to connect to the remote server". If I modify the SMTP server name to a name that doesn't exists, the program returns "The remote name count not be resolved". Therefore I belive the program finds my SMTP server and the problem is the authentication. I use "Use below credentials" and correct username/password. I've tried with and without SSL, but it fails. I've also tried a different smtp account from a different provider, but it also fails.
Is the email notifications disabled in the RC2, is there a issue with the authentication in the program, or is the problem me or my mailprovider?

I have tested and it works just fine both with and without authentication.

I've now tried the final version with the same problem. The program still returns "SMTP test failed: Failure sending mail. Unable to connect to the remote server" when I run the SMTP test. I've tried with different mailaccounts and different server ports, but I can't figure it out. Is there a possibility that my company's router or ISP have closed any ports etc?

keep in mind that almost every ISP provider have configured their SMTP server and firewall to accept connections from only their own ip range they are using against their own customers.
If You have uploaded FileVista to another hosting provider and not your own and than you try to use SMTP server from your isp provider it will never work...
hope this helps you to figure out the problem.

I don't know how this program works. We're yousing this software as a projecthotel for our customers and I hope the email notifications should function independent of the users/customers internet provider. Maybe it has something to do with my webhost? The emails will be sent from my webhost?

if your FileVista is hosted on ISP provider than you need to ask them ip address of their SMTP server because you cannot use the SMTP server of your own provider you are using at home.
I think the problem may be there...... which hosting company you are using ? I can find out their SMTP address.... for you..

I think you're right. I'm using Surftown as hosting company (surftown.no, but they also have an english site Surftown.com)
