Settings Icon and performance

is there a way to take the settings icon off the interface. also how do we tune the performance for web explorer Pro?

I have sent you an updated file via email to get rid of Preferences icon. 

For tuning the performance, you can disable or decrease the scanning level of Folder Tree (on Preferences page) and set the constant calculateTotalSize to false (in inc_config.asp by hand). Both would enable faster browsing of folders.

I would also like to know how I can remove the preferences icon from the default page of Webexplorer Pro.  Could you please email me the steps to complete? Thanks,
