I am setting up this software to allow so folks to have web access to some simple documentation I have setup. I have created a virtual directory to point to my file server cluster. When I access the virtual directory, I can browse just fine. When I use the webexplorer, it will not display any information other than the header.

My setup is:
http://webserver/virtual directory
 - Virtual Directory points to \\Fileserver\share
This works fine. When I goto http://webserver/webexplorer it only displays the header info and not files or folders.

I think you mean you get an error message indicating that it was unable to open the root folder by saying it only displays the header info.
Please take a look at Root Path with two server names for the solution.
